Background
I am an experienced mediator, litigation lawyer, and negotiator and have been working with people to resolve legal, personal and financial conflicts for over 30 years. Currently in private practice as a Mediator and parenting coordinator, I am a former senior manager and Solicitor in the Charity Sector. My professional experience includes working with charities, local authorities and trade unions to resolve employee conflict, working with neighbours, landlords and tenants and families to resolve housing and property disputes, negotiations between debtors and creditors and investigating and resolving consumer complaints. I have trained and mentored advice professionals and served as a charity trustee.
My focus as a mediator is on helping people to resolve personal conflicts in the family, workplace, and community by working both individually and in collaboration with other experienced mediators.
The common thread to my work is my interest in people and faith in their capacity to deal with and overcome difficult situations. I do not provide legal advice to mediation and coaching clients, instead I provide a space where they can consider their own views and the responses of others. I find that treating people with respect and honouring their dignity is the key to cooperation and that this helps clients discover their own solutions and make their own decisions about what is right for them.

I have hundreds of hours post qualification legal CPD and since ceasing practice as a Solicitor average about 10 hours p.a. in legal CPD and a further 30 hours p.a. in Mediation and related training in addition to reading widely on communication skills, critical thinking and psychology. I also receive regular mediation supervision from accredited mediation professional practice supervisors.
Mediation Experience
I am a full-time mediator. I have successfully mediated in family, property, tenancy, neighbour and building disputes. I also have also mediated to resolve workplace disputes including disputes involving allegations of discrimination and bullying.
Other Relevant Experience
I previously practiced as a housing lawyer specialising in residential landlord & tenant and leasehold work. Although much of legal work in later years was for tenants I am also a landlord. I also have extensive experience in staff management and charity governance and in dealing with vulnerable people.
